Ocean Beach People's Organic Foods is the winner of the 2003 Savings by Design Award presented by the California Council of the American Institute of Architects. The building is the new home of the Ocean Beach People’s Cooperative built in 1973. It houses a 2-story whole foods store in a sustainable structure built to minimize energy consumption. Operations are maintained in 12,000 sf of retail space modeled into bright shopping environments. This community owned cooperative is committed to the health and well-being of its clientele by providing quality natural products, and services that promote ecologically sound lifestyles.
